What information do we collect about you and why do we need your data?
We hold the information given by you when you complete relevant forms for the Group, including the rider application form and the volunteer application form. We only collect information that is necessary for the purpose of the activities of our charity. We will only use the information about you to administer the RDA group ride schedules and to ensure the efficient running of the Jersey Group. We may pass the information about you to Riding for the Disabled Association incorporating Carriage Driving, the national body and, if you are a rider, possibly the intermediary who brings you to the rides. We will not disclose any information about you to any individual or company other than noted above, or if required to do so by law.
Marketing – Keeping in touch with you
We may like to send you newsletters and other information to keep you informed about the activities of the RDA Jersey Group and about how you can support the RDA group. If you have consented to receive newsletters, etc, you may opt out at a later date. You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes.
Access to your personal data
Under the new data protection law, effective in the UK and the Channel Islands on 25th May 2018, you have the right to request a copy of the personal data that we hold about you. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date and you may ask us to correct or remove information.
Retention of data
Volunteers: we will retain your personal data for a year from your last active involvement. If you have given written consent for online DBS checks to be made, all information contained on that consent form will be deleted immediately you inform us that you are no longer a volunteer.
Riders: once you are no longer riding with the group we will securely retain your data for 10 years for an adult rider and 10 years after a child rider reaches the age of 18. This retention period is as advised by RDA National and local legal advice.
